Royalty Series

The Royalty Series began with the Portrait of a Queen painting. At the time of this painting, I did not know that I would paint other pieces that related to depicting royal individuals of color. Portrait of a Queen is actually my first attempt at a portrait painting, particularly in this textured style. The pieces that make up the ancestral portraits are paintings of no one and someone at the same time. I believe that we should thank our ancestors regularly for paving the way, and continuing to watch over us. Although these portraits did not reference a particular persons, I'm certain that they embody the spirit of someone whom has aided in guiding me.
